Wakanka, The Seer

Projection

Wakanka had a vision of her daughter, Ite, living together with the gods. Wakanka desired this so, that she participated in the plan to embarrass the gods. However, the plan had been discovered and Wakanka was banished while her daughter Ite became Anog Ite, the Double Faced Woman, and would never again live with the gods. Wakanka projected her own desire, the desire to one day become a god, unto her daughter. She was so taken in by this desire she risked everything to see her wish come true. Yet, her projection prevented her from seeing reality as it was: her daughter was already living with a god! Her husband Kola was the god Tate who had taken on a human form. Wakanka’s story shows us how projections trouble our perception of reality. Every projection, be it an assumption, an expectation or an interpretation, creates confusion. Try to let go of your projections by taking a step back. Wakanka was spurred into action to make real her projection, and in so doing destroyed a great deal. Therefore, you should assume a passive attitude, and not an active one. Take a step back; try to listen instead of filling in the blanks yourself.
