Exasperation

One night a man had a dream. He dreamt of himself and God walking along the beach. In the sky he saw the events of his life. For every event he walked past he saw two pairs of footprints in the sand: his own and those of God. After the last episode of his life had played itself out in the sky, he looked at the foot prints in the sand. He saw how in some places there was only one trail of foot prints, oddly coinciding with the most difficult times of his life! Exasperated he turned to God and asked him why God had abandoned him in his times of greatest need. God answered: ‘My son, I love you and would never abandon you. During your times of trial and sorrow, where you see only one set of foot prints, I carried you.’
